In the heart of Grand Massif, among the largest ski areas in France accessible entirely on skis, Flaine was the first Alpine ski resort in France to combine, in an exceptional mountain setting, respect for the environment, architecture, and urban planning. Its exceptional snow cover, direct access to the slopes, and numerous summer activities make it an extraordinary destination in all seasons.

Designed by the legend of French skiing, Émile Allais, Flaine’s ski area is a true gem for winter sports enthusiasts. Situated at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 2,500 m, it offers exceptional snow conditions throughout the season.

Connected to the Grand Massif ski area, the 4th largest ski area in France linked “on skis,” Flaine features more than 139 slopes and 62 ski lifts. Its altitude and geographic location ensure outstanding snow cover until the end of the season.

Known for its unique architecture, friendly atmosphere, and breathtaking landscapes—including an unparalleled view of the Mont Blanc massif—the resort offers a wide variety of activities. It also provides dedicated freestyle zones, perfect for snow sports enthusiasts.

Beyond its remarkable slopes, Flaine stands out for its state-of-the-art facilities. Fast and comfortable ski lifts ensure easy and rapid access to all parts of the ski area.

Environmental commitment is also a core management focus. A pioneer since 1969 through initiatives in Flaine (strict control of car access, natural gas heating with zero GHG emissions, and underground electrical networks), Grand Massif became in 2016 the first Green Globe-certified ski area for all its activities. A flagship of this commitment, Flaine established in 2008 Europe’s first Environmental Observatory, covering 1,400 hectares across five municipalities. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive inventory of biodiversity, monitor its evolution, and identify solutions to preserve these natural riches—a pioneering project now emulated across all CDA ski areas. In 2025, Grand Massif will launch its major project “Résilience – a vision for the future of the territory.”
