Plural, sporty, cheeky, and committed, Tignes is a resort with many qualities

With 78 ski lifts and the longest opening period in France, the Tignes mountain domain is an iconic playground for winter sports enthusiasts.

The ski area, connected to Val d’Isère, spans 300 km of slopes at the height of the season, from its highest point (Grande Motte glacier – 3,456 m) to its lowest (Les Brévières village – 1,550 m). From late November to early May, winter sports lovers can also enjoy numerous activities: ice diving, the 3 km-long Expédition Cobra sled track, dog sled rides, or snow tubing. Tignes is a true “full-scale” playground, even in summer.

Tignes also encompasses several villages (Tignes les Brévières, Tignes 1800, Tignes Val Claret) at altitudes ranging from 1,550 m to 2,150 m, offering a diverse and unique experience in the Alps, with rich heritage, including the famous Tignes dam.

Focus on "Altitude Expériences"

In September 2018, the resort launched the first stage of its "Altitude Expériences..." project, along with the world’s highest open-top cable car. Beyond the technical challenge, the project sets an example, showing that it is possible to renew and enhance tourism in our mountains while limiting environmental impact. The ski area, awarded Green Globe certification, aims to become a creator of new mountain-based activities and emotions in the context of climate change, and to drive responsible economic development in the region. This first stage represents a new, coherent, and rational way for an ecosystem to rethink its tourism, no longer focusing solely on winter and skiing, while innovating to maintain essential connections with high-altitude areas.
