Bellewaerde Aquapark

Inaugurated in 2019, Bellewaerde Aquapark is the indoor water park of the Bellewaerde site in Ypres (West Flanders). Designed as a fully-fledged second gate, it aims to diversify visitor experiences and extend the length of stay at the park.

Fully covered and heated, Bellewaerde Aquapark offers a year-round aquatic experience in a family-friendly environment. Spanning approximately 4,200 m², the park is integrated into a landscaped setting consistent with Bellewaerde Park’s identity. Its offering combines water slides, play pools, children’s play areas, and relaxation zones, creating an intergenerational experience.

A strategic investment for the Bellewaerde site

Built to mark Bellewaerde’s 65th anniversary, Bellewaerde Aquapark represents the park’s largest investment to date, totalling €17 million. The project posed technical, human, and environmental challenges, with the objective of delivering a fully immersive experience while respecting the park’s three historical pillars: attractions, animals, and nature.

From its conception, the Aquapark incorporated responsible resource management systems, including water recovery and management, energy efficiency measures, and careful landscape integration to respect the environment.

A complementary driver of attendance

With an estimated annual attendance of around 150,000 visitors, Bellewaerde Aquapark plays a key role in diversifying the audience and extending the park’s seasonality. It strengthens the site’s appeal to Belgian families and cross-border visitors, particularly outside the peak summer season.
